Multi-Masking: Why It Should be a Staple In Your Routine
Written by nügg Beauty - March 28 2016
If there is one beauty trend that we are absolutely loving right now, it’s multi-masking. Although multi-masking is a hot topic amongst beauty bloggers at the moment, estheticians have been using the technique for a long time to personalize treatments to their client’s individual skincare needs. With the right products, you can do the same at home.
What Is Multi-Masking?
Multi-masking means following multiple masking steps that allow you to customize your mask regime to your skin type and skin care objective. Where applying one mask all over and calling it a day can be very effective, multi-masking allows you to take at home skincare to another level by targeting different skin concerns all in one go. The technique involves applying one face mask after the other to both prepare and treat your skin, and/or to apply various types of masks to different areas of your skin with specific needs (i.e T-Zone & cheeks).
Why Choose nügg Masks to Multi-Mask?
The one downside to multi-masking is having to purchase multiple expensive, bulky jars of product that you only use a small amount of at a time and that you never quite finish. That’s where our award-winning face masks come in. Our pod packaging makes them perfect to “mix and match” for multi-masking with each pod containing a powerful mix of actives targeted at specific skin concerns. Thus, adjusting your multi-masking regime to your changing skin needs caused by weather, hormones, aging, travel or whatever else is easy and hassle-free. And, all our masks are formulated with over 90% natural or naturally derived ingredients, contain no parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances or colors and are not tested on animals.
How-To Multi-Mask for Your Skin Type
First things first, cleanse! No matter what your skin type may be, it’s important to always start with clean skin before applying any and all treatment products. This helps avoid pushing any dirt or toxins that are sitting on the surface of your skin further into the epidermis and gives you the perfect canvas for masking.
Dry Skin: You have tight, dehydrated skin with occasional flaking.
Step 1. Exfoliating all over to slough away dead skin cells and allow for optimum product penetration in step 2.
Step 2. Apply the Eye Mask under your eyes and our Hydrating mask all over the rest of your face to infuse the skin with intense moisture. Use any leftovers of the Hydrating mask on your neck, décolleté, hands, or even feet for a moisturizing treatment there.
Aging Skin: You have or are starting to see fine lines and sagging.
Step 1. Exfoliate with our Exfoliating mask. Apply all over to slough away dead skin cells and allow for optimum product penetration in step 2.
Step 2. Apply the Eye Mask to help boost hydration around the eyes and apply the Anti-Aging everywhere else. Use any leftover Anti-Aging on your décolleté, neck and backs of hands to help with hydration and signs of aging there as well.
Oily/Combination: You are breakout prone with excess oil along the T-zone and occasional dry/irritated spots elsewhere.
Step 1. Apply the Deep Cleansing mask on your T-zone or along personal “breakout areas” and the Soothing mask everywhere else.
Step 2. Apply a thin layer of the Soothing mask at night as a sleep mask to balance the skin.
Normal Skin: You can experience occasional oiliness on the T-zone and dry patches on cheeks, but you aren’t experiencing any substantial skin issues.
Step 1. Exfoliate with our Exfoliating mask. Apply all over to slough away dead skin cells and allow for optimum product penetration in step 2.
Step 2. Apply the Deep Cleansing mask on your T-Zone to control oil production and apply the Hydrating mask everywhere else. Use any leftovers of the Hydrating mask as sleep mask in the evening and/or on your décolleté, neck, hands, or even feet for a moisturizing treatment there.
Dull Skin: Your skin lacks luster, and looks tired and dull.
Step 1. Exfoliate with our Exfoliating mask. Apply all over to slough away dead skin cells and allow for optimum product penetration in step 2.
Step 2. Apply the Eye Mask to help depuff and apply the Revitalizing mask everywhere else for a radiance boost. Use any leftover Revitalizing on your hands and feet to soften and give them some relief. For best results, apply a thick layer and wear cotton gloves & socks overnight.
Hungover Skin: Maybe you had one too many drinks or maybe your skin is just seriously overworked and in need of some help.
Step 1. Apple our Deep Cleansing mask all over to help purge the skin and clean out your pores.
Step 2. Apply the Eye Mask under the eyes and the Revitalizing all over to wake your skin up. Make sure to put the stick packs and damp pads into the fridge before applying. Use any leftover Revitalizing on your hands and feet to soften and give them some relief.
Except when using our masks overnight as sleep masks, we recommend to use the entire content of our pods to create a thick gel layer so that the mask can form a barrier on your skin that helps drive ingredients into the skin.
If you have any leftovers after using one of the masks, tape up the lid and place in a zip-lock bag so that the remaining content stays fresh and use within two days.
